A new week, new readers!
After a wonderful experience at Gemeinde Christi church this morning (Sunday, May 17, 2015), our team got back to work with several readers. One group of five readers were all from a single family. Each member of our team paired up with one person from the family and read with them from the LST Luke workbook. They are all very good English readers, but, as is often the case, somewhat tentative when it comes to actual conversation about what we're reading. But, with a little coaxing and a handful of appropriate questions, the conversations came easily. After this group left, Lukas came to read. Lukas is a new reader, and today was his first day to come. This young man is a friend of the missionaries, and he learned about the LST project through their sons.
Tomorrow we have 10 readers (possibly 11). We also need to do our grocery shopping for the week. After all, the team's gotta eat! On that note, the food here is awesome (especially the Bratwurst)! :)
This past Thursday (Ascension day) we had our first LST party. Actually, we piggy-backed on an annual church gathering for which the church in Hildesheim and the church in Peine meet in a small village and play American softball. Then they follow up with a cookout. Below are some photos from that event. As you can see, it was a very well attended event. Oh, there was also a massive amount of Bratwurst cooked and consumed. :)
