Summer Euro 2016 – First Tour in London
Above: Our group getting started on a tour of Westminster Abbey with tour guide Sean
Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay in posting this entry. I've not had a very good wifi experience in London until now.
Today was our first day of touring London. Our group met for breakfast at 7:00am in our hotel after sleeping off some off our jet lag. After that, we met in a little park around the corner for some "community time"; there we prepped for our tour and our first full day in London.
We met our tour guide Sean at Westminster Abbey, and for the next 3 hours we toured through this amazing place. The guiding thought we gave the students before going was to pay attend to who was married there and who's buried there. Those two terms (esp. "buried") came up so often during the tour, and several of the students would give me a smile every time they heard it (I got a lot of smiles).
We also toured the Parliament area and got to see "Big Ben" (which is the name of the bell itself and not the tower). You see a shot of that on my Instagram (click here). I also got a little video clip of the hustle and bustle of London (click here).
Then we walked down the street to conclude our tour at Trafalgar Square.
Tomorrow we hit the British Museum and British Library. Tomorrow evening we see Taming of the Shrew at the Globe Theatre. Should be another good day!
